Presentations The Sustainable Seas Expedition (SSE) is a five-year project of the National Geographic Society in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to study the nationØs twelve marine sanctuaries. SSE will return this June to continue efforts to survey the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary using new one-person submersibles. More information about the Sustainable Seas Expeditions may be found at http:www.sustainableseas.noaa.gov The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is one of 12 marine sanctuaries administered by the Commerce Department's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The sanctuary extends from Marin to Cambria, encompassing 300 miles of shoreline and 5,322 square miles of ocean. It is home to numerous mammals, seabirds, fish, invertebrates, plants, and other life forms in a remarkably productive coastal environment.
